John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Morgan Pressel named Honorary Co-Chairs
OCALA, Fla. (December 10, 2014) — Coates Golf, LLC is proud to announce John Travolta, Kelly Preston and Morgan Pressel as the honorary co-chairs of the Coates Golf Opening Night Gala. The January 25, 2015 gala is the kickoff event for the Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L Carriers.
The Opening Night Gala is an invitation only event with guests such as LPGA professionals, top sponsors, VIP’s and Pro-Am participants. The evening will mark the start of the inaugural Coates Golf Championship as well as the LPGA season.
“I’m looking forward to starting my 10 th LPGA season with the Coates Golf Championship at the Opening Night Gala,” said Morgan Pressel, LPGA Tour Professional. “The evening promises to be an exciting night for this first-year golf event and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
The Jett Travolta Foundation and the Morgan Pressel Foundation will be the beneficiaries of the proceeds from the gala.
“The Travolta family and Morgan have made meaningful differences with their respective charities, not only in their home state of Florida, but globally as well,” said Mollie Coates, President of Coates Golf. “We admire the work they have done in the world of philanthropy and are happy to support both foundations.”
Founded by John Travolta and Kelly Preston, the Jett Travolta Foundation uses its resources to assist and provide relief to children with mental or physical impairments as well as other special medical, environmental, health or educational needs. The Morgan Pressel Foundation was started by the professional golfer in honor of her mother to support and raise funds for patient care and research in the fight against breast cancer.
“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with the LPGA Tournament in raising money for these causes,” shared John Travolta and Kelly Preston. “Many of the beneficiaries of the foundations are based in and around the Ocala area and hence, some of the monies raised through the tournament will find its way back into the community.”
The Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L Carriers will boast a 120 player field with 72 holes of stroke play over four days of competition and a $1.5 million purse. Official tournament play will kick off Wednesday, January 28 and continue through Saturday, January 31 at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club. The tournament will serve as the launch pad for Coates Golf, a major new golf brand introduction that is based in Ocala. Additionally, it will showcase the Central Florida area as a great place to work, live and golf, as well as to give back to the community through charitable contributions. The tournament is being held at the Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club.
